EAST VILLAGE — The "Hot Chicks" have left Avenue A. Kinda.

A controversial sign hanging above the Upright Citizens Brigade's new theater, near East 3rd Street, that jokingly advertised a "Hot Chicks Room" has been flipped around to obscure the words.

An outcry over the babe-inspired billboard last month forced the comedy troupe to cede the signage, which is a nod to a UCB sketch starring actress Amy Poehler.

UCB managing director Alex Sidtis previously said he needed to acquire the proper building permits to remove the sign after nearby residents complained that it looked "repulsive" and would only serve to encourage the crush of bar-goers who frequent the block.

On Wednesday, the pink-lettered sign had been flipped around.

Nonetheless, someone felt compelled to tape a note to the theater's front door asking that the sign be taken down completely.

"THIS SIGN IS INAPPRORIATE [sic] AND OFFENSIVE!" the note read. "TAKE IT DOWN!"

Sidtis did not immediately return a request for comment.
