MANHATTAN — A car fire closed the northbound lanes of the FDR Drive Tuesday afternoon and one person was sent to the hospital with minor burns, the FDNY said.

The fire department responded to the car fire on the FDR near 96th Street about 2:04 p.m. One person was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor burns, FDNY said.

The city's Office of Emergency Management sent out an email about 2:25 p.m. notifying New Yorkers of the lane closures.

"All Northbound lanes on the FDR near East 96th Street are currently closed due to an auto accident," the alert said.
