MANHATTAN — A West Village woman jumped into the frigid waters of the Hudson River to save her dog's life Tuesday.

Molly Pfeiffer, 29, dove off Pier 54 in the Hudson River Park after her wheaten terrier named Boogie jumped into the water while chasing birds, the New York Daily News reported.

Fearing that the current would drown her pet, Pfeiffer dove into the water to save the dog.

"I was pretty scared," Pfeiffer told the News. "I grabbed Boogie and pulled her on up to one of the wooden supports on the pier. It was covered with algae and really slippery."

A passerby called for help after seeing Pfeiffer in the water and the NYPD harbor unit rescued her from the river.

Boogie, who was walking along the water without a leash, was unharmed by the incident.

Pfeiffer was checked out for hypothermia at Beth Israel Medical Center and then released, according to the FDNY.
