MANHATTAN — Broadway's former golden girl Julie Taymor may have made her directorial exit from the tortured musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" — but the drama's not finished between her and the show's producers, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Taymor's union, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, formally entered negotiations with the show's producers, Michael Cohl and Jeremiah Harris, on Monday, presenting them with a list of demands regarding Taymor's compensation and credit, the Journal said.

"We want to ensure that the producers meet their obligations to Julie with respect to compensation, credit and use of artistic property," Laura Penn, the union's executive director, told the paper. "It hasn't been resolved...and there comes a time when it's time for your union to step in."

Officials for the show announced earlier this month that Taymor would be replaced by Philip William McKinley as director of the show, which has been plagued by safety violations, actor injuries and epically negative reviews.

The already record-breakingly expensive, $70 million production is set to undergo a massive creative overhaul, but the Journal reported that Taymor must first waive her contractual right to control over the show.

A spokeswoman for Taymor, Mara Buxbaum, told the Journal that she is not "demanding a financial payout, nor has she threatened to prevent changes to the production in any way at this time, while the discussions are ongoing."
