East Village Duplex Floors Connected by Indoor Slide

EAST VILLAGE — This is one apartment with a playful side.

An architecture firm found a whimsical way to design an East Village duplex to its client's liking — by connecting the space's two penthouses with a playground-style slide

The project, by Turret Collaborative Architects, features a twisting slide that descends from the unit's upper office to the living space below.

The apartment, located on East 13th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A, is owned by professional poker player Phil Galfond, who bought the building's two penthouse units back in 2008, Curbed reported.

"The image of the stainless steel curves in front of the oversized window to the city beyond, to say nothing of the irrepressible glee of grown adults on the slide, is surprisingly poetic," read a description of the project on the architecture firm's website.

"[W]ith careful detailing, the playground element is an unexpectedly elegant addition to the space."

The 2,400-square-foot duplex also includes a game room and putting green on the outdoor terrace, the firm added.
