MANHATTAN — It's been one bad, lawsuit-ridden week for Manhattan's Dream hotels, according to the New York Post.

Vikram Chatwal, the hotelier behind the not yet opened Downtown Dream Hotel on W. 16th Street, was slapped Wednesday with a $30 million suit by restaurant Abe & Arthur's owners the Emm Group, the Post reported.

The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleges that Chatwal reneged on a handshake deal and instead negotiated a secret arrangement with the rival Strategic Group, according to the Post.

The Emm Group attests that Abe & Arthur's was given exclusive rights to manage hospitality services on the pool deck and roof bar, as well as inside the basement, restaurant and hotel rooms, the Post reported.

Meanwhile, on Monday, a woman filed suit against the Dream Hotel on 55th Street's corporate parent because of a 2009 rape inside her room by a hotel employee.
