WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Flowers, candles and personal items were on display in Washington Heights Monday to remember the life of Hector Arias Jr, a neighborhood native who was gunned down last week.

Arias, 33, was killed by a gunshot wound to the head about 7 a.m. outside his Bronx apartment last Thursday, police said.

He had just stepped out of his apartment, at the Gun Hill housing projects in the Bronx, police said.

Outside the Hillside Deli Grocery & Tobacco Shop on Monday where the memorial was erected, Arias was remembered for his devotion to friends and family.

Police have released a sketch of the man believed to have murdered Arias and are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.
