BATTERY PARK CITY — Danny Meyer unveiled new details this week about his much-anticipated fine-dining restaurant in Battery Park City.
The North End Grill would serve new-American dishes with a focus on seafood when it opened at the end of this year in the former Embassy Suites building, Mayer's Union Square Hospitality Group said.
Floyd Cardoz, founding chef at Tabla, will take the helm of the new restaurant, and Bentel & Bentel will design the interior.
Cardoz said in a statement that he planned to cook "simply prepared American food with ingredients that should remind you what day of the year it is."
Meyer called Cardoz "one of the most gifted chefs with whom I have ever had the privilege to work."

"North End Grill will be another shining chapter in Floyd’s career and I can’t wait to see and taste what’s next," Meyer said in a statement.
The North End Grill, at the corner of North End Avenue and Murray Street, will join outposts of Meyer's Shake Shack and Blue Smoke, also opening in the building later this year.
Goldman Sachs is in the process of converting the building into a luxury Conrad hotel. A roof garden will provide vegetables and herbs for the seasonal dishes at the North End Grill.
In addition to renovating the hotel, Goldman is also overhauling all the ground-floor retail spaces, making way for the new Meyer establishments and several other new shops and restaurants. The hotel is scheduled to open at the end of 2011.
