FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Upscale cocktails are on the way to the Financial District.

David Kaplan, who co-owns the Prohibition-themed Death & Co. in the East Village, is bringing similarly swanky drinks to a quiet block of Stone Street as soon as this summer.

A preliminary cocktail menu includes the Mai Bumbye with white rum, pisco, fresh lime juice, orange curacao, orange marmalade and mint sprig garnish, and the Fity Fitty with gin, dry vermouth, orange bitters and a twist of lemon, each $14.

"We're trying to target the residents in the neighborhood, so you don't have to leave," David Blatt, Kaplan's business partner, told Community Board 1 last week.

The as-yet-unnamed restaurant at 90 Broad St., with an entrance on Stone Street, will also serve sharable plates of bacon-wrapped dates and white anchovy bruschetta, along with eggplant caviar flatbreads and sweet potato gnocchi.

Small plates will cost $6 to $8, while the main dishes will run $15 to $19. Desserts, including a chocolate pot de crème and banana bread pudding with rum raisin ice cream, will cost $8 to $9.

The sub-level space will seat about 120 people, said Blatt, 35, a Lower East Side resident. There will be no live music or dancing.

Local residents were thrilled to hear about the new bar and restaurant, which replaces an outpost of the China Chalet chain.

"Super!" said Liz Williams, a member of CB1's Financial District Committee. "This is a great addition to the Financial District. We really need some good restaurants down here."

The committee recommended a rare 4 a.m. closing time, in the hopes of helping the new establishment succeed. The State Liquor Authority will make the final decision on the license.
