MANHATTAN — A fire in a locker room at the New York Sports Club in an Upper West Side co-op forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents and gym members Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the first floor of 23 West 73rd St. shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday and evacuated residents living on the upper levels.
Crews had put out the fire by 4:30 p.m. and no one was injured in the flare-up, an FDNY spokesman said.
He said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
