LINCOLN CENTER — Ever dream of sneaking into Fashion Week shows?

So did Melissa Afonso, 19, and Jordan Male, 20, two fashion design students from the University of Glamorgan in Cardiff, Wales. The pair managed to sneak backstage early Wednesday morning, using an air of precociousness and outfits from H&M, Forever 21, Zara and Topshop.

"We just acted like we belonged there," Male said. "We got to see the makeup and hair backstage, it was lovely."

Afonso was wearing a jacket and dress from H&M, tights by Henry Holland, and boots from Topshop. Her top designers are Viktor & Rolf ("He's definitely my favorite in the world, I love him"), John Galliano and Alexander McQueen.

Male was sporting a vintage find from at a market in England. Her dress was from Zara, and boots from Forever 21. Her favorite designers are Vivienne Westwood ('I love her!") and Viktor & Rolf.

"We're here on a fashion learning trip," Afonso said.

"And by fashion, we mean shopping," Male added with a laugh.

In addition to their sneak peak backstage, the duo wanted to catch the Michael Kors and Nanette Lepore shows later in the day. But their trick didn't work a second time.

While visiting New York, the ladies will be shopping at Bloomingdale's and Macy's — stores not available to them in Cardiff. They are especially looking forward to the Barney's warehouse sale starting Thursday.

"I'm kinda nervous we might get trampled!" Afonso said.

As for the future, the ladies hope to become fashion illustrators in England.

"I'd like to work here, but it's too far away for me," Male said.
