MANHATTAN — Lindsay Lohan won't be on Letterman Wednesday night.

The troubled star dismissed a CBS's announcement that she would be appearing on the late night talk show reading the Top Ten.

"I am NOT going to be doing David Letterman, I'm not sure how this happened, but I am sorry for the confusion..." Lohan tweeted.

A spokesman for Letterman later acknowledged that the Late Show host had been hoaxed.

"We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear," spokesman Tom Keaney said in a statement, Reuters reported.

"Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future," Keaney added.

The prankster tried to book Lohan, who has been on the "Late Show With David Letterman" four times, to appear via satellite and present "The Top Ten" comedy segment, the New York Post reported.

The "Mean Girls" star has already been a subject of the "Top Ten" comedy segment in the past week. During "The Top Ten Signs That Lohan Is Out Of Control," Letterman made jokes at the actresses expense about her felony charges and 2007 bust for drunk driving and cocaine possession.

"How many times have we done this list?" Letterman said during the Feb. 10 show. "I'm really beginning to think there's maybe something wrong with her."

The top sign that Lindsay was out of control?

"Even Charlie Sheen said 'Hey, dial it back!'" Letterman joked.
