UPPER WEST SIDE — A man was hospitalized after being shot in the stomach on the Upper West Side early Monday morning, police said.
The unidentified man was shot shortly after 1 a.m. at 204 West 105th Street, witnesses said.
"I heard the pop. It sounded like a gun," said a resident in the building who asked not to be identified. "It's strange because it doesn't happen around here often."
The victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, according to the NYPD.
A man who lives in the building next door said he was surprised to see the NYPD on the block around 3 a.m.
"It was shocking to see police," said the man, who would only give his first name, Julio. "You don't have that around here."

No arrests have been made, but an investigation is underway.
