Westminster Dog Show Kicks Off Monday at MSG

MANHATTAN — Manhattan dog lovers are in luck — the Westminster Kennel Club 135th Annual Dog Show begins at Madison Square Garden next week.

The two-day event, one of the most prestigious dog shows in the world, begins on Monday at 8 a.m., with the Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding breeds rounding the judging circle.

Sporting, Working and Terrier breeds will follow on Tuesday, with the coveted Best in Show award to be judged that evening.

Over 2,000 dogs will be competing in this year's show which will also include six new breeds to the competition. The boykin spaniel, redbone coonhound, bluetick coonhound, cane corso, leonberger and Icelandic sheepdog will make their debut in the competition this year.

Live coverage of the festivities will air on USA Network Monday from 8 to 9 p.m. and on CNBC from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday.

USA will televise the event from 8 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
