MIDTOWN — LCD Soundsystem's first ever concert at Madison Square Garden on April 2 will also be the band's grand finale.
The New York-based band's founder James Murphy announced that the show would be the band's last concert on his dfa records message board Monday.
"We are retiring from the game," Murphy wrote.
"Gettin' out. Movin' on. but for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours-playing stuff we've never played before and going out with a bang," he said.
The dance-punk band's latest album, 2010's "This is Happening" received critical acclaim and a spot on the Billboard top ten list spurred by the boppy "Drunk Girls" track.
Murphy promised a blowout for the final show.
"If it's a funeral, let's have the best funeral ever!" he wrote.
Tickets for the band's last hurrah will go on sale Feb. 11.
