Police Hunt Suspect in Washington Heights Stabbing Death

MANHATTAN — Police are on the hunt for the person accused of stabbing a 26-year-old man and leaving him for dead on a Washington Heights sidewalk.

Juan Benito, of 562 W. 173rd St., was found unconscious in front of 1553 St. Nicholas Avenue, near West 188th Street, around 8:25 p.m. Friday night, according to the NYPD.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival, according to the department.

Now police are searching for a man caught leaving the scene by surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 45-years-old, with a slight salt-and-pepper colored beard. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a black leather jacket at the time of the incident, according to police.
