UPPER EAST SIDE — An 81-year-old woman died after leaping from the window of her third floor apartment on the Upper East Side in an apparent suicide Sunday, police said.
Ingebord Mende landed in a courtyard at the side of the East 88th St. building at about 11.30 a.m.
A neighbor, who asked not to be named, told the Daily News Mende had been lonely lately.
"All of her friends died recently, and she got depressed," the neighbor said.
"I knew it was going on, but I didn't think she would do it."
Police said they didn't suspect any criminality.
