MANHATTAN — A person was trapped in an elevator for an hour at a senior center in Harlem before firefighters were able to extricate them Wednesday evening, police and FDNY said.

The person, who was not identified, was stuck at a senior center located at 17 East 124th Street, across from Marcus Garvey Park, just off of Fifth Avenue. That address matches a listing for a public housing complex catering to the elderly called Mt. Morris Park Houses. Nobody at the center was available for comment Wednesday evening.

The trapped person was not injured, and the rescue operation took just under an hour, officials said.
