MANHATTAN — Seton Hall basketball star Jeremy Hazell felt lucky to be alive after getting shot during an attempted mugging outside of his East Harlem home on Sunday.

"I just feel very lucky, very blessed," Hazell told the Daily News on Monday.

Hazell, 24, was shot in the side, under his armpit, while running away from four men who tried to rob him outside the Carver Houses on East 104th Street on Sunday.

"I didn't know these guys — never saw them before," Hazell told the News. "They just tried to rob me. I never knew something like this could happen to me."

Hazell said the four men confronted him while he was walking home from a friend's Christmas party early Sunday.

"I just got to the front door of my building when these four dudes came up to me," said Hazell.

One of the men threatened to shoot the 6-foot-5 forward if he didn't sit on a nearby bench. Hazell shoved the man and took off running, the News reported. He said four shots were fired and one of them struck him in the side.

"I knew I got shot," he told the News Monday. "I felt it, but I just kept running."

Hazell was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The NYPD is still searching for suspects in the shooting.
