MANHATTAN — The 90-year-old Harlem man who was mugged on his way back from the grocery store earlier this week got an early Christmas present from a Good Samaritan, WCBS-TV reported.

Jessie Little, the former merchant marine who was attacked and robbed in the lobby of his apartment building at 15 West 139th Street, received $470 cash from an anonymous donor on Wednesday, according to the news station.

Little had just cashed a check, when he was mugged by two assailants around 2 p.m. on Monday. One of the men held him down, while the other grabbed the money – around $380 – out of his pocket, Little said.

But, two days later, the man who has been alive for nearly a century experienced a first: a knock on the door from WCBS reporter John Slattery, there to deliver the cash gift from an unnamed New Yorker.

"Well, I appreciate it. I thank him," Little said, responding to the gift, according to WCBS. "I’ll pray for him and wish him all the luck in the world."
