UPPER WEST SIDE — Representatives from a charter school whose bid to open on the Upper West Side has sparked local protests are expected to attend a Community Board 7 meeting Thursday.
Upper West Success Academy, a branch of Success Charter Network, wants to open a new school inside an Upper West Side public school, but many parents oppose the idea of sharing space with the charter school.
The Thursday meeting will give critics a chance to discuss the issue face-to-face with Upper West Success Academy representatives.
The Department of Education hasn't decided yet where Upper West Success Academy will be located, but it recently announced that Brandeis High School is a possible site.

Upper West Success Academy says it will provide high quality public school options to Upper West Side families, many of whom end up on waiting lists for sought after schools such as P.S. 87.
The charter school says a poll shows overwhelming support for its move into the neighborhood and as of the end of November, it had collected more than 350 applications.
An earlier proposal to house Upper West Success Academy inside P.S. 145 was scrapped after fierce neighborhood protest.
On Thursday night, Community Board 7's Youth, Education and Libraries committee will host a discussion of Upper West Success Academy's proposed "co-location," with representatives from the school expected to attend.
The committee meets at 6:30 p.m. at Community Board 7's office at 250 West 87th Street, 2nd Floor. For more information, visit Community Board 7's website.
