SOHO — A small fire broke out in the ceiling of the swanky SoHo nightclub Greenhouse Wednesday morning.

No one was inside the club when the fire department was called to the scene around at 6:36 a.m. by an automated alarm system, according to an FDNY spokesman.

There were no injuries and the fire was brought under control just a half hour later, the FDNY said.

A building worker, who refused to give his name, confirmed that fire was caused by a faulty light fixture in the ceiling on the second floor of the club.

"One of the strobe lights caught fire," the man, who was installing a new light bulb into a fixture, said. "It wasn’t a big deal."

Greenhouse is known for the elaborate light displays and leaf-like decorations that line its walls and ceilings. None of the decorations appeared to catch fire.

The club was cited for two fire code violations in April 2009, including one for failing to to have an affadavit proving the decorations were flame retardant, an FDNY spokesman said. However, Greenhouse furnished the required documents and was up to fire code as of January.
