EAST HARLEM – A young woman was stabbed inside an apartment building Friday, witnesses and officials said.

The woman, beleved to be in her late teens, who was not identified, was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital Center just before 1 p.m. Friday from the River Crossing apartment buildings on First Avenue at East 101st Street, according to the FDNY.

She was slashed in the face and on her body, police sources said.

Witnesses and police believed she knew her male attacker, who fled the scene.

"She was full of blood, she was unconscious. It was terrible," said Maritza Mccartsy, 53, who lives in the apartment complex.

Another resident said he heard the woman scream as she was put into an ambulance.

The victim's 21-year-old brother said he "was in my home watching ESPN. I got a call telling me my little sister was cut up."

He said visited his sister in the hospital.

Officials did not have any additional details on the extent of her injuries or who was responsible.
