ALPHABET CITY — A woman had to be extracted by the fire department Wednesday morning when she got stuck climbing into her second-floor window in Alphabet City, the FDNY said.
The woman got stuck at 10:11 a.m. in the window of 178 Avenue D, in an apartment building on the corner of East 12th Street, fire officals said.
"It was crazy," said Crisanta Fernandez, 39, an Alphabet City caretaker for the elderly, who said she saw the scene from an adjacent apartment window. "She kept throwing things to knock on the window, then she was trying to climb up until she got stuck."
Fernandez said the woman appeared to be in her late teens, and was yelling for her mother to let her into the apartment before she attempted to climb on a wire attached to the wall in an effort to reach the window.

It wasn't the first time the young woman had gotten locked out of her apartment and thrown things at the window, according to Fernandez.
Both the FDNY and EMS responded to the scene. The woman refused medical care after she was extracted around 10:30 a.m., according to FDNY.
