MANHATTAN — A man wanted for allegedly murdering a man in a Chelsea diner last month was arrested at a pro basketball game in North Carolina on Saturday, police said.
Authorities in North Carolina apprehended Earl Barranco, 24, on Saturday evening at the Time Warner Cable Arena where he was for the Charlotte Bobcats game against the Orlando Magic, according to several reports.
Barranco, of Brooklyn, allegedly opened fire at Good Stuff Diner at 109 West 14th Street near Sixth Avenue in the early morning hours of Oct. 23, killing Corey Scott, 28, of Flatbush.
Scott was a career criminal who was on parole after serving just over a year in prison on second-degree robbery charges, according to prison records.
Barranco was being held at the Mecklenburg County prison until his extradition hearing, which takes place Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
