FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A thief stole a purse from a locker at the New York Health & Racquet Club last week, police said.

The victim, a 38-year-old Staten Island woman, left her purse in an unlocked locker at the 39 Whitehall St. club about 1 p.m. Oct. 14, police said.

When she returned to the locker about 15 minutes later, she found that the purse, containing credit cards, a cell phone and an iPod, was gone.

Several days earlier, a thief lifted a wallet from the Equinox gym at 14 Wall St., police said.

The 42-year-old victim, an Upper West Side woman, told police she briefly left her pocketbook on a bench in the Equinox locker room about 7:40 p.m. Oct. 11.

When she turned back to the pocketbook about a minute later, she discovered that her wallet, with credit cards and $50 in cash, was missing, police said.
