WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The city is asking local residents to weigh in on how to improve West 181st Street, one of the most congested roadways in upper Manhattan.

Two years after the Department of Transportation began a study of traffic problems in the area, it continues to look at ways to reduce congestion on the street that connects the George Washington Bridge, I-95 and the Harlem River Drive to Riverside Drive and the Henry Hudson Parkway.

The DOT plans to unveil improvements for the thoroughfare, including changes in parking regulations, the introduction of left-turn and bus lanes, and the possibility of introducing one-way traffic on the street.

The meeting, which is co-sponsored by Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, will be held at P.S. 132, the Juan Pablo Duarte School at W. 182nd Street on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m.
