LOWER MANHATTAN — A bomb threat forced the evacuation of Murry Bergtraum High School late Wednesday morning, police said.

Police did not find a suspicious package in the school and allowed students to return to their classes at about 12:35 p.m., the NYPD and the Department of Education said.

The threat was made in a phone call to the school at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the NYPD and DOE said. NYPD is still investigating the source of the threat.

A Queens woman who picked up her nephew, a Bergtraum senior, Wednesday afternoon said she didn't think the students should have been allowed back inside.

"I don't want my child in there," she said. "I find it stupid to go back into the school when there's been a threat."

Murry Bergtraum is located on Pearl Street under the Brooklyn Bridge, adjacent to the NYPD’s headquarters at One Police Plaza. The 2,445-student school has struggled with violence and low test scores, and the city brought in a new principal this year to restructure the school.

Representatives of Murry Bergtraum did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
