HAMILTON HEIGHTS — A fire broke out on the fifth floor of an apartment building on St. Nicholas Avenue Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze and were taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in stable condition, FDNY sources said.
The fire, which started at about 11:30 a.m., was brought under control about two hours after FDNY units arrived at the scene, fire officials said.
The six-story building, at 870 St. Nicholas Ave. near 153rd Street, was not evacuated because of the blaze, though several residents were prevented from entering their apartments.
The building suffered only minor damages to the fifth and sixth floors, the FDNY added.

St. Nicholas Avenue between 156th and 152nd was closed to traffic as of 1 p.m.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, fire sources said.
