MIDTOWN — Hundreds of models and dancers "vogued" their way down a runway Saturday night for the 20th annual Latex Ball at the Roseland Theater.

The LGBT community's glam night, which is meant to reinforce the importance of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS, featured a special fashion show that declared winners in categories such as "best dressed," and "fem queen sex siren" in the ballroom downstairs.

Upstairs, organizers from the Gay Men's Health Crisis offered free HIV tests.

Marjorie Hill, CEO of the GMHC, said the annual gathering helped get young people talking about safe sex.

"The messages young people send to each other about safe sex are worth more than the messages from the health department, parents, or — as cool as I think I am — even from me," Hill said.

Damien Peterkin planned to battle it out with other competitors on the catwalk.

Before the ball kicked off, singer Shontelle was all nerves about judging one competition.

"Everybody's been telling me this is a really big deal, this is the biggest ball, you bring it," she said.
