UPPER MANHATTAN — Volunteers are needed for Upper Manhattan’s 26th annual Medieval Festival in Fort Tryon Park, which drew more than 60,000 attendees last year.

Volunteers can help with an array of activities, such as set construction, decorating, stage management, runners/balers, traffic control, hospitality, costume assistance, helping children and giving out information.

The one-day free festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, unless it rains, in which case it moves to Oct. 10. It will feature jousting knights on horseback, falconers, Medieval-style entertainment, educational programs and more than 100 performers in period costume.

The annual festival will put down stakes in its normal location of Fort Tryon Park next to the Cloisters Museum. It will run from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is sponsored by the Parks Department, Fort Tryon Park Trust and the Washington Heights Inwood Development Corporation (WHIDC). It's the largest event in the city's parks.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Max Bakaleynik, Volunteer Coordinator at WHIDC, at 212-795-1600 or by email.
