MANHATTAN — A 14-year-old boy was shot in the stomach while visiting his grandmother in Harlem Tuesday afternoon, making him the fourth victim of gun violence in Harlem in recent days, according to police.
Tyreek Manguel was hit in the stomach by a bullet from a rifle, which broke at least one of his ribs, according to the Daily News. The incident happened at about 4:40 p.m. at 147th Street and Seventh Avenue, the paper reported.
Manguel was taken to Harlem Hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Officers followed a trail of the victim's blood back to an apartment, but found no one and were still looking for the shooter, according to the News.
The shooting could have been the result of a recent argument between Manguel and the gunman, police told the paper.
Harlem has seen a string of shootings in the past few days. Bronx resident Luis Soto was killed and Harlem resident Angel Alvarez was shot as many as 20 times in a police-involved shootout on Lenox Avenue and 144th Street on Sunday. On Monday, off-duty police officer Ekeythia Dunston shot her girlfriend in their apartment on 128th Street during an argument over a text message, police said.
