UPPER WEST SIDE — Multiple women have come forward to testify to a grand jury that alleged Riverside Park rapist, Hugues-Denver Akassy attacked them, the New York Post reported.
Akassy, 42, who is believed to be homeless, was arrested last week for the alleged rape of a Russian tourist near the 79th Street Boat Basin in Riverside Park.
Posing as a French journalist, Akassy allegedly lured the woman to the park after meeting her at the Time Warner Center.
Because police suspected that Akassy targeted Upper West Side women they called for anyone with information about the attacks to step forward.
In response, several women testified against Akassy during grand jury testimony that began July 29, according to the Post. As a result of their testimony, Akassy may be indicted on the rape charges as early as Monday, the paper reported.
Akassy still has a pending charge of harassment from a 2009 incident involving a 33-year-old Upper West Side woman who claimed she received threatening messages from him.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned by the end of the month.
