MIDTOWN — It's definitely inappropriate for Eloise, but perfect for the likes of Don Draper.
In a nod to the hotel's golden age of the 1950s and '60s, The Plaza is hosting a weekly burlesque show in its cocktail lounge, The Oak Bar, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The show, called The Sophisticates, features four dancers who shimmy among the audience, reportedly tossing their gloves at patrons. While the show may not be as explicit as those found at the Slipper Room or the Box, the women do strip down to their tassels.
"It's a pretty classic burlesque revue," the show's host, Abe "Bastard Keith" Goldfarb told The Journal. "It's a balance to the old joke 'The Aristocrats.'"
The next performance will take place on Aug. 8, according to the bar’s website. There is a $15 cover and two drink minimum for non-Plaza guests.
