MANHATTAN — Eric Schneiderman’s campaign in the race for state attorney general got some star power Wednesday in the form of an endorsement from the actor-comedian Alec Baldwin.
Baldwin, the "30 Rock" star, who was himself floated as a potential candidate for governor earlier this year, said he supports Schneiderman because “New York State is facing big problems” and needs “an independent, gutsy Attorney General.”
“Eric’s always been on the right side of the issues, from protecting the environment to fighting for marriage equality and reproductive freedom,” Baldwin said in a statement released by the campaign Wednesday.
“I know he has the character and the tenacity to stand up and deliver the real change our state needs.”
Schneiderman Tweeted his thanks to Baldwin for the endorsement and said he was pleased to receive the actor’s support.
"Alec is not only a brilliant actor, he's a dedicated progressive and when I’m Attorney General I look forward to working with him on the issues we both care deeply about." Schneiderman said.
