MANHATTAN — Some West Village and Greenwich Village buildings and businesses will have to drag the recycling to the curb on a different day after the Department of Sanitation announced service changes on Wednesday.

Starting the week of July 19, residents in parts of the West Village, Village and NoHo will now receive recycling pick-up service on Tuesdays or Wednesdays — a change from the old pick-up schedule on Thursdays and Fridays.

Tuesday pick-up will take place in the West Village area roughly bounded by West Street and Greenwich Avenue and by Bank Street on the north and Morton Street, Seventh Avenue and Washington Place on the south. This area previously received service on Thursdays.

Parts of NoHo and the Village, from Eighth Street down to Houston and between Sixth Avenue and Bowery and Cooper Square, will now receive recycling services on Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

The Sanitation Department is reaching out to buildings in effected areas, and will not issue summons for “failure to store” during the new schedule’s start-up period, according to a release from the department.
