MANHATTAN -- Police are searching for $60,000 worth of jewelry after a thief robbed a makeup artist to the stars, the New York Post reported.

Llana Harkavi, who has done makeup for stars including Madonna, Cher and Diana Ross, was praying at her synagogue when a man posing as a Time Warner worker burgarlized her Upper East Side apartment.

After a neighbor grew suspicious and called the doorman, the alleged thief was arrested following a brief chase but the jewelry was not recovered, the Post said.

Chris Salikram was charged with burglary and released on a $2,500 bail, the Post said. He claimed he had gotten lost after taking the service elevator and mistakenly entered Harkain’s apartment through an open door.

"I never took no jewelry," he told the Post.

But bracelets, watches, earrings and rings are missing from Harkavi’s apartment.
