CHELSEA — Gay Men’s Health Crisis is giving New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS a way to to illustrate the experience for others.

The new art exhibition "Art & AIDS: Positively Proud" features portraits and artwork by 50 local artists living with HIV and AIDS opens Thursday. The exhibit opened last night and was attended by “Project Runway” contestant Jack Mackenroth.

"Art can be a profound communicator, and in this forum provides a powerful opportunity to de-stigmatize people living with HIV and AIDS,” said Mackenroth, who has lived with HIV for more than 20 years.

The exhibition includes more than 130 pieces of art, drawn from weekly therapeutic art classes at GMHC. It will be on display through September 30.
