MIDTOWN WEST — A small fire on the third floor of a commercial building in Midtown briefly shut down part of 57th Street Wednesday night.
Firefighters responded to a call of a fire at 37 57th Street about 8:34 p.m., FDNY said. There was a "smoke condition" on the third floor of the building caused by a small electrical issue, firefighters on the scene said.
A handful of people were briefly evacuated from the building, and 57th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues was shut down for approximately 30 minutes, FDNY said.
The fire has been placed under control.
