MANHATTAN — New Yorkers, prepare for the summer of puppy love, as teen idol Justin Bieber lays siege to the city Friday.
The bowl-cutted heartthrob is scheduled to perform on June 4 as part of the "Today Show" Summer Concert Series and again that evening for a video to be screened during the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.
The Bieber video will be filmed at an undisclosed New York location and screened during the pyrotechnic extravaganza, a website soliciting audience members revealed.
Spots at the "Today Show" performance will be doled out on a first come, first served basis, according to the show's website. Wannabe spectators were encouraged to arrive at Rockefeller Plaza by 6 a.m., though fans infected with "Bieber Fever" are sure to be camping out even earlier.
Locals be warned: Bieber devotees are small but fierce.
Organizers were forced to cancel a show last month as fans of the 16-year-old pop star got into a fight at a performance in Australia, the Daily News noted.
On a separate occasion, Bieber's mother was nearly trampled by a stampede of 500 prepubescent girls, the paper said.
And, most recently, reality star Kim Kardashian reported death threats from enraged Bieber fans, after the feather-haired teen tweeted a picture of them with the message "Look its [sic] my girlfriend," according to the News.
In addition to stealing little girl's hearts, the Canadian singer, who was discovered through YouTube, helped spark a nationwide craze for coifed hair. "The Today Show" will pay homage to fad before Bieber performs with a Justin Bieber look-alike contest.
