UPPER EAST SIDE — Six-time Grammy-winner John Legend is officially hopping on the bandwagon for East Side congressional candidate Reshma Saujani.
Legend, who campaigned extensively for President Barack Obama, will perform June 3 at a private fundraiser for the young candidate.
Supporters who give $14, an amount chosen to reflect District 14, will be entered into a drawing for the tickets. Saujani will pick the winners out of a hat.
Legend, 31, became a star with his 2004 album, "Get Lifted" and performed at Obama's inauguration. He attended Saujani's campaign announcement in January.
A recent poll put Saujani behind incumbent Carolyn Maloney with only 7 percent of the vote to Maloney's 75 percent.
The race recently took on a more negative tone, with Saujani accusing Maloney of borrowing some of her key ideas on immigration and business innovation and introducing them into congress.
