MANHATTAN — Isiah Thomas and Eddy Curry could very well be the last people Knicks fans want reaching out to LeBron James on New York's behalf.

Thomas, who is now coaching at Florida International University, said James should come to New York despite the reputation of the Big Apple's media.

“As an athlete, a competitor — at least me — you want to be in that arena,” Thomas said. ”I want to feel that sweat, I want to feel that intensity. I want to feel that emotion. That's what I thrive on."

However, the Knicks former and much-maligned general manager told a Miami radio show that James should be wary of the rabid fans and the media.

"They may boo, but they are there,” Thomas said. “The media is definitely tough on you.”

While Thomas' lukewarm endorsment is troublesome, James connection with Curry is terrifying for Knicks fan.

James reportedly reached out to the Knicks frequently out-of-shape center about working out together this summer, sources told the New York Daily News.

Curry has been at odds with Knick coach Mike D’Antoni for two seasons. The center's playing time has been severely limited because of injuries and conditioning. Curry asked to have his contract bought out by the team last year, but was denied.
