MANHATTAN — A man on a Greyhound bus bound for New York City said he had a bomb, prompting police and fire officials to evacuate blocks of Portsmouth, N.H, according to news reports.

The bus originated in Bangor, Maine, and was headed to Manhattan when the threat came in, NBC New York reported.

New Hampshire state police explosives disposal units responded to the threat. It was unclear whether the bus was occupied.

A Hilton hotel near the bus was evacuated, and a parking lot was closed, NBC reported.
