INWOOD — Between April 11 and April 21, eight fires were set in city parks in Northern Manhattan, the Manhattan Times reported.

Two fires occurred in Highbridge Park, one in Fort Tyron Park, and five in Inwood Hill Park, the Manhattan Times said.

The blazes were all intentionally set, FDNY told the paper, and occurred within just 15 blocks of one another.

The fires do not have any apparent pattern, making the arsonists hard to catch, a Parks department employee told the Manhattan Times.

So far, the damage has been minimal, thanks to the efforts of the FDNY, the paper reported.

But with so many trees in such a dense neighborhood, tensions remain high over future fires becoming a public safety issue of greater proportions, according to the paper.
