CHELSEA — Small designers from boutiques throughout Manhattan's neighborhoods will get a chance to show off their wares with the much anticipated opening of Anthropologie at Chelsea Market.
Anthropologie will open its doors for business on April 16 in a 10,000-foot corner space formerly occupied by a flower shop with locally-made one-offs, according to the store's press.
NoLIta boutique Some Odd Rubies redesigned vintage dresses for the opening made from vintage fabrics by West Village boutique Geminola’s Lorraine Kirke and denim hand-painted by New York-based artist Carol Horn.
The location will also debut accessories designed and hand-crafted by Manhattan designer Alison Woodward of Reverie and pieces from French jewelry house Woloch of Paris that created costume pieces for Chanel. Dishes and bottles by Judy Jackson, founder of TriBeCa Potters, will also be sold.
“Each Anthropologie store really becomes part of the surrounding community and offers support for local artists, organizations, etc.,” said Anthropolgie spokesperson Amanda Woodward.
“Our Chelsea Market store is no different.”
