UPPER EAST SIDE — Residents forced to relocate as a result of Second Avenue Subway construction will have an opportunity to meet with MTA representatives next week.

The MTA will discuss the costs of moving, storage and rent with the affected residents April 12 at the Stanley Isaacs Senior Center at 6 p.m.

The relocations will affect six apartment buildings along Second Avenue between E. 93rd and E. 97th streets and last between 30 to 60 days, said Kevin Ortiz, spokesman for the agency.

Many of the people who will have to relocate fear losing their rent stabilization, said Assemblyman Micah Kellner, who met with other elected officials and the MTA Tuesday.

"We want to make sure that they're not putting rent-stabilization in jeopardy," Kellner said.

The subway construction was causing some of the buildings to crumble forcing the MTA to step in and strengthen the structures.
