MIDTOWN WEST — Talk about a cents-less crime.

A man tried to rob a bank branch’s coin-counting machine Wednesday afternoon by reaching his hand into the device, according to an employee at the TD Bank on 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue.

The bank’s “Penny Arcade” kiosk is a popular change-counting machine that customers pour spare coins in to have them converted to cash.

He apparently fled after failing to get a grip on any loose change, the employee said.

The bank captured the not-so-grand heist attempt on video, which was handed over to police, the employee added.

The NYPD had no information regarding the identity of the alleged change thief.
