MIDTOWN — A fire broke out inside a Times Square building Wednesday afternoon, attracting dozens of firefighters — and tourists.

The small fire was reported just before 4 p.m. on the first floor of the three-story building at 711 Seventh Ave., near 48th Street, with 60 firefighters and several fire engines responding to incident, the FDNY said.

The fire, which occurred near several souvenir stores on the high-traffic block, was under control by 4:45 p.m., the FDNY said. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Mahmudu Rahman, an employee of the neighboring Phantom of Broadway store at 717 Seventh Ave., said he saw and smelled smoke at the scene before firefighters arrived.

The FDNY’s response gave curious passersby a reason to stop and gawk, with some even having their pictures taken at the scene.

Natalia Heshusius, 28, a nurse visiting from Colombia who was walking through Times Square when the incident occurred, said she had never seen so many fire engines.

"It’s a crazy city," she said.
