MEATPACKING DISTRICT — Alexander McQueen was scheduled to show his latest line for Target in the Meatpacking District the same day he was found dead in his London home.

McQueen, 40, was to present McQ — a more affordable clothing line to his usual avante-garde styles — at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking District from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday. The show was cancelled.

Neither Milk Studios management, nor McQueen's publicist at KCD Worldwide, was able to confirm whether the designer, who reportedly hanged himself, was to appear in New York for his presentation.

The Web site for the brand by McQueen, who was called Lee by friends and family, was taken down after news of his death broke.

“At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family,” a message on the homepage said.

“Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news.”

McQueen’s Twitter account, McQueenWorld, has also been taken down.

Earlier posts had revealed the designer’s devastation over the death of his mother, Joyce, last week.

“Been a ****ing awful week but my friends have been great but now I have to some how pull myself together,” he posted to Twitter on Sunday.

Milk Studios, with MAC Cosmetics, will be producing 32 shows and presentations for Fashion Week this season. The partnership sprung last summer to provide alternate venues for young designers to show collections in the harsh financial times.

Queen’s death comes a month before the designer was to unveil his new collection at Paris Fashion Week.
