MANHATTAN — Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted and took pictures of a 19-year-old woman in a Lower East Side apartment building on Jan. 18.

The suspect followed the victim into the unidentified building's elevator, where he pulled a knife on her and forced her out and into a stairwell, police said.

He then sodomized her and took pictures of her with a camera phone before fleeing, police said. The attack took place at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to the NYPD.

Police described the suspect as an 18-23 year old Hispanic male, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He is described as having black curly hair. He was seen wearing a black North Face jacket, blue jeans and black boots.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
